American Electro band LCD Soundsystem has announced its return to the music world after splitting up in 2010. The band will headline the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California and release a new album.

The band's frontman James Murphy wrote a Facebook post to announce the same.

"We're not just playing Coachella. We're playing all over. We're not just having some reunion tour," Murphy wrote, reports dailystar.co.uk.

"We're releasing a record (sometime this year-still working on it, actually), so this isn't a victory lap or anything which wouldn't be of much interest to us. Thank you to everyone who has been absurdly kind to us over the past 14 years. If you have moved on and don't like us anymore, that's obviously ok, too," Murphy added.

The band released its self-titled debut album in 2005 and remained active till 2010. The debut received a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album.

Their single "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House" also received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording.

Murphy has also collaborated with Canadian band Arcade Fire and English virtual English group Gorillaz and even composed for a Broadway show starring "Spectre" actor Daniel Craig.
