Borussia Monchengladbach and Nico Elvedi have agreed on a contract extension ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga club announced.
The Swiss international has penned a new deal and will stay with the "Foals" until June 2021, reports Xinhua news agency.
"We are pleased that we were able to bind Nico to Borussia for a long time. Nico is a regular starter and a constant even though he is still one of the younger players of the squad at the age of 21," Monchengladbach's sporting director Max Eberl said.
The 21-year-old defender joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Swiss outfit FC Zurich to make 80 appearances providing one goal and four assists ever since.
"Borussia is a top club which has supported me a lot from the beginning. The club trusted me from the start and now I want to give something back. I am glad that the talks with those responsible have gone so well," Elvedi told the club's official homepage.
