Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said atrocities on women in India should end and this should begin from the family.
"Exploitation of and atrocities against women is high. It should end in the family first. Then it will stop in your locality, village and cities," the former Union Minister said in the Lok Sabha during a debate on Dalits.
The SP leader also stressed the need for a change in the mindset vis-a-vis atrocities on the poor in the name of religion and language.
"There is racial discrimination in society and also in the name of one's foreign origins or otherwise. All these should be brought under control," he added.
