Home Minister Rajnath Singh Monday asked Pakistan to stop violating the 2002 ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir, warning that "times have changed in India".

"Pakistan should stop ceasefire violations," Rajnath Singh told the media here. "It should understand the reality that times have changed in India."

The minister's comments follow firing by Pakistani troops in Kashmir that left at least five civilians dead and 29 injured in Jammu district.

Rajnath Singh said he had been apprised of the situation by Border Security Force (BSF) Director General D.K. Pathak.

Pathak "has been instructed ... to rush to the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir where incidents of ceasefire violations have been reported", the home ministry said.
