Social activists have asked the Uttar Pradesh government to enforce industrial safety norms following the death of three sanitation employees here.
The activists cited the deaths on Monday to say that lessons had not been learnt from the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.
"Our attitude towards safety norms is lax, at times callous. This mindset should change," Braj Heritage Conservation Society president Surendra Sharma said.
"In most accidents, innocents or pedestrians become victims of others' carelessness. Fire brigade, police and pollution control board officials should regularly monitor industries," Sharma said.
Activist Devashish Bhattacharya wanted violators of safety normals to be punished.
Activists said the situation in the Taj city was alarming as sewage was being directly pumped into the earth through borewells.
Some day there could be an explosion as methane and other noxious gases were being produced, they said.
