Former Maharashtra bureaucrat Leena Mehendale has been selected as Goa's chief information commissioner (CIC), Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said Monday.

Journalist Sandesh Prabhudesai and former defence ministry official Stanley Coutinho have been appointed as information commissioners, he added.

Mehendale is a 1974-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer whose last posting was as the additional chief secretary in the Maharashtra government.

The post of CIC had been lying vacant for more than a year now.
