A former Maoist was allegedly murdered by his disgruntled ex-colleagues who resented his decision to surrender last year, an official said on Wednesday.
Police on Wednesday found the body of Madhav Warlu Padda, an active Maoist for a decade before he surrendered to security forces in November 2014, an official said.
He had been stabbed repeatedly with sharp weapons near Mauja-Kotmi village in Etapally region of Gadchiroli district.
The official said Padda was eliminated by former Maoist colleagues who were against his decision to surrender.
Padda, 38, was a Maoist with Kasansoor Dalam for 10 years since 2005 but later had a change of heart.
He then lived with his aged mother, wife, two sons and two daughters in the village.
Following the murder, the police have launched a combing operation in and around Etapally.
