An interesting design-centric exhibition that brings together the best in the fields of art, decor and design will be taking place here over the weekend.

Titled "D/Code," the exhibition is curated by leading architect Ashiesh Shah. Design brands, artists and product designers from varied backgrounds are scheduled to assemble together and discuss issues such as innovation and craftsmanship.

"The idea of 'D/code' was all about creating an innovative platform that would provide global access to both artisanal and contemporary Indian design practices and give homegrown designers a stage to showcase their work.

"I have been thinking about this idea for a little while now and it is fantastic to see it come together. With D/code we hope to demystify the strength of Design in India and shine the international spotlight on Mumbai as the go to art and design destination in the region," Shah told IANS in an email.

He elaborated that there are a lot of interesting discussions that he is personally looking forward to.

"We have some of the country's best art and design galleries and brands showcasing works. One of the things I am most looking forward to is the Atelier section, a curated exhibition of some amazing works by young designers across the country," he said.

Shah began his career in New York City in mid-2000 after graduating from Parsons School of Design with a degree in Interiors and Architecture.

For the last eight years, he has been spearheading his own design firm, Ashiesh Shah Architecture + Design, handling various high-end design projects in India and beyond. Also in his kitty are the houses of some popular faces from Bollywood, which he is personally redoing or working on from scratch.
