The Border Security Force (BSF) said on Thursday that it seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value of Rs.3 lakh and 12 kg of ganja (cannabis) from near the Bangladesh border in West Bengal.

The troopers of 24th battalion seized the fake notes from under the Nawada border outpost area in Malda district.

"Smugglers from Bangladesh threw a bag containing the fake notes over the border fence. When Indian miscreants tried to pick it, they were challenged by the troopers but they managed to escape. The seized fake notes have been handed over to police," said a BSF officer.

In another operation under R.C. Pur border outpost area in Nadia district, the troopers seized 12 kg of ganja.

The BSF this year has seized fake notes of nominal value of Rs.77 lakh and 180 kg of ganja besides apprehending seven smugglers from across its south Bengal frontier.
