Faridnagar in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, which was hit by communal violence on Sunday night, remained calm on Tuesday amid heavy deployment of security forces.

The entry of political leaders into the town has been restricted.

"There is peace in the town...We have restricted entry of outsiders in the town. An FIR has been registered in the case but no arrest has been made yet," said Modi Nagar circle police officer Jagat Ram Joshi.

Around 30 people, including three policemen, were injured as mobs of religious communities clashed over the use of loudspeakers.

Several vehicles were set on fire and shops looted and gutted in the Sunday night frenzy at Faridnagar.

Police have registered a case for rioting against hundreds of people, including former Faridnagar Nagar Samiti chairman Lalit Garg and local councillor identified only as Arif.
