All farmers growing "notified crops" in the "notified areas" can avail group insurance under crop insurance schemes, parliament was told on Friday.
"All farmers including sharecroppers, tenant farmers growing the notified crops such as paddy, maize, cotton, sugarcane, banana, chilly, ginger, potato, onion, tapioca, turmeric, horsegram and blackgram in the notified areas are eligible for coverage under the crop insurance schemes sponsored by the government," Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kundaria told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
"Crop insurance schemes are available to individual farmers, may he be a member of self help groups, farmers' producing organisations and cooperative society," he added.
