Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked the Narendra Modi government, saying farmers and the poor will give it "zero" marks over its performance while the prime minister's industrialist friends will give full marks on completion of one year in office.

On a visit to his Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi, Gandhi said he was asked by a journalist to rate the Modi government on a scale of 1 to 10.

Gandhi said he can tell how people will give marks.

"On one hand, the farmers, the poor, the labourers, youth in want of jobs, the Dalits, they will give zero marks. On the other, Modi-ji's industrialist friends will give him full marks. This is the difference," Gandhi said.

The Congress leader, who is on a two-day visit to the region, accused the government of pursuing anti-farmer policies and said the Congress will oppose such measures.

He was earlier accorded a grand welcome at the Amausi airport near Lucknow, from where he drove to Amethi.

Gandhi later led a 'padyatra' (walkathon) with farmers to the site where a mega food park was to come up but the scheme has now been axed by the National Democratic Alliance government.
