The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has collaborated with the Italian Trade Commission in New Delhi to have Italy as partner country for the upcoming season of the Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW).

The upcoming Spring-Summer 2017 edition will be held from October 12 to 16 at the NSIC Grounds, Okhla, here.

FDCI will provide the Assocalzaturifici (Italian Footwear Manufacturers' Association) and Aimpes (Italian Leather goods Manufacturers' Association) a platform to showcase collection of leather goods from 41 leading Italian brands, read a statement.

This will be followed by a showcase by talented designers like Alberto Zambelli, Bav Tailor, Davide Grillo and Leitmotiv, selected by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (National Chamber of Italian Fashion) on October 12.

Francesco Pensabene, Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of Italy and Coordinator for Italian Trade Commission Offices in India, said he is "very pleased for the official participation of Italy as a partner country" of the fashion gala organised by the Italian Trade Commission.

"I am very proud to present one of the extraordinary pillars of the 'Made in Italy' -- Fashion in shoes and bags; that's why it is not by chance that we called our participation in this context as follows 'Fashion Appeals from Shoulders to Heels'," added Pensabene.

FDCI President Sunil Sethi said: "Italy is known for its beautifully crafted accessories, superlative tailoring and design aesthetics which will add fervour to the fashion week. We look forward to a long and insightful association."
