Felt pain of refugees during 'Airlift' shooting: Akshay (Movie Snippets)

Actor Akshay Kumar says he felt the pain that refugees went through during the filming of his forthcoming movie "Airlift", based on evacuation of Indians from Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war.

"Felt the pain of #refugees during @AirliftFilm filming. Respect to Jordan and change-maker @QueenRania's ongoing efforts to protect refugees," Akshay tweeted on Wednesday.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, "Airlift" also stars "The Lunchbox" fame actress Nimrat Kaur.

The film will release on January 22.

Happy with Supreme Court ban on Jallikattu: Hema Malini

Actress-politician Hema Malini says she is "happy" with the decision made by the Supreme Court of India to stay the bull taming sport Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.

 

"I've voiced my views on Jallikattu and supported its ban. Was upset to hear that it was to be allowed. Today with the Supreme Court ban, I'm happy," Hema posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court put a bar on Jallikattu on Tuesday citing cruelty to animals. The event figures prominently during Pongal festivities in Tamil Nadu that start on Thursday.

Can't decide who I like best in 'Sholay': Vidya

Actress Vidya Balan, who will next be seen onscreen in the upcoming film "TE3N" along with Amitabh Bachchan, sat down to watch the megastar's cult classic "Sholay" again. After watching the film, she says she is unable to decide what caught her attention the most.

Directed by Ramesh Sippy, the film follows two criminals - Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh) - hired by a retired police officer (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan).

"Recouping on a dose of my all time favourite films. Today its 'Sholay'. Can't decide who I like best. Jai, Veeru, Thakur, Basanti, Radha, Soorma Bhopali, Jailor, Rahim chacha, Ahmed, Mausi. R.D.Burman's music, Salim-Javeds' writing. Actually I think its the sum of all its parts... called Ramesh Sippy," Vidya shared on Twitter on Wednesday.

"And I wouldn't have minded being in Gabbar's squad," Vidya added.

Since its release, "Sholay" completed 40 years in 2015.

The film also featured Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan.
