English Premier League club Chelsea confirmed Saturday that the Spanish striker Fernando Torres will join AC Milan permanently in 2015.
At the beginning of the 14/15 season, Torres had moved to Milan on a 2-year loan. But he only scored one goal in 10 appearances.
The news, however, may not hurt the striker's eagerness to go back to Atletico Madrid, the club from where he had started his career.
Torres had indicated that the Madrid club did not have the funds for a permanent deal themselves, but may sign him on another loan deal from Milan once he had left Chelsea.
Torres won the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup while at Chelsea. And he won the World Cup and the Euro titles as a Spanish international during the period 2008-2012.
Torres scored only 20 in 110 league outings for Chelsea. He joined Chelsea in 2011 from Liverpool.
