Spanish tennis player David Ferrer advanced to the second round of Erste Bank Open after the withdrawal of British opponent Kyle Edmund here on Tuesday.
The British player decided to withdraw because of physical problems after 18 minutes, when the score was at 3-2 to Ferrer at the Wiener Stadthalle, reports Efe news agency.
Fifth-seeded Ferrer will play the next round against the winner of the game between Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas and Portuguese Joao Sousa.
