Feyenoord booked a 3-0 win over PEC Zwolle to retain first position in the Dutch Eredivisie football tournament, two points ahead of arch rivals Ajax Amsterdam.
Ajax beat NEC 5-0 in Amsterdam earlier on Sunday. Kasper Dolberg produced a hat-trick in the first half. The 19-year-old Danish striker opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the 19th minute, tipped in his second goal in the 24th minute, and completed his hat-trick with a backwards header in the 37th minute, reports Xinhua.
Bertrand Traore and Lasse Schone added two more goals in the second half.
With this win, Ajax temporarily took over the Eredivisie lead and put pressure on Feyenoord, scheduled to play the last match of the 13th round. The Rotterdam-based team needed a win to stay ahead of Ajax.
Feyenoord had troubles finding gaps in the tight defence of PEC Zwolle, but captain Dirk Kuyt headed in a cross by Jens Toornstra to break the deadlock. In the second half, long-distance shots by Karim El Ahmadi and Toornstra earned Feyenoord the 3-0 win. With the victory, Feyenoord ended a three-match run without a win.
