Tamil filmmakers V.R. Kalidas and Augustine have teamed up to bring out a reel version of the fatal shooting of 20 woodcutters from Tamil Nadu by Andhra police earlier this month, as they were accused of smuggling red sanders.
Popular crime novelist Rajesh Kumar has been roped in to pen the dialogues and screenplay of the film, which has been titled "Thookkumara Pookal".
In a statement, the directors said: "In order to bring out the truth behind the ghastly murders of innocent Tamilians, we've decided to make the film on this sensitive issue."
While the cast and crew is yet to be revealed, the team plans to start shooting from Friday in Coimbatore.
