A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar for allegedly threatening a person at Cotiago village.
Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudessai on Tuesday confirmed the registration of the FIR against Tawadkar.
"An FIR has been registered upon the complaint of one Ponu Velip at Canacona police station," Prabhudessai told reporters on Tuesday.
In the FIR, Tawadkar, who is legislator from the Canacona assembly constituency, has been accused of blocking the villager's path with a car, then trying to assault him and threatening him of dire consequences.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 341, 352 and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code.
Tawadkar was not available for comment despite attempts to reach the cabinet minister on his mobile phone.
