A fire broke out in Kolkata's Armenian Ghat area on the banks of the Ganga on Thursday. It disrupted the circular train services of the Eastern Railway for a short period, an official said.
"A fire broke out in a chemical warehouse near the flower market... and spread into the nearby slum. Nearly 15 unauthorised shanties were destroyed in the blaze," a fire official said.
A total of 21 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
"No injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident. The fire was caused by inflammable materials kept in the chemical godown," the official added.
