A fire broke out at a petrol pump here on Friday, police said. There were no details about any casualties yet.
Eyewitnesses said the fire broke out when an oil tanker truck was filling the pump's storage.
Meghalaya police chief S.B. Singh told IANS that the fire, which broke out around 4 p.m., was only extinguished by fire service personnel after several hours of effort.
"We are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire as we have not started with our investigation," he said, adding that the damage was also yet to be assessed.
