A wood repository was gutted in fire here on Sunday afternoon while a blaze broke out at the film city in West Midnapore too, a fire official said. No casualties were reported in either incident.

"A major fire broke out in a wood shed in city's Beliaghata area at around 4 p.m. on Sunday. The fire spread quickly as plenty of inflammable materials were stored there," the fire control official said.

The official said the situation was critical as the place was surrounded by many small scale factories and workshops and eight fire tenders were pressed into service and worked for almost two hours to douse the blaze.

"The reason of fire could not be comprehended yet. No injuries are reported," the official said.

In a separate incident, a fire broke out in West Bengal's Prayag Film City on Sunday.

According to the fire official, some temporary tin sheds inside the film city at West Midnapore district's Chandrakona highway caught fire at around 3 p.m.

"The temporary sheds, where plenty of hay and plastic materials were stored, were gutted in fire. However there was no major damage of property as the structures in the film city are spread out," a fire official said.

"Two fire tenders are working in the spot. No one got injured in the fire as the film city is closed on Sunday," he added.
