A fire broke out in a power utility company's substation in Dum Dum in the eastern fringes of the city on Friday, officials said.
As many as 15 fire tenders were pressed into service, an official of the West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services said.
Reports of the blaze came about 11.30 a.m. and around 10 fire engines reached the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation substation, which is close to the Dum Dum Central Jail, the official said.
