The forest department on Saturday said it would take action against those involved in a video, which went viral, showing a tiger being tormented by fishermen in a Sunderbans river.
A group of fishermen were seen harassing a tiger from a trawler using bamboo poles when the animal was swimming across the river towards Kendo island.
The video showed the tiger finally wriggling out.
Action will be taken under Wildlife Protection Act, a forest department official said.
