Five civilians were killed and 25 others injured in a bomb blast in Faryab province on Monday, district governor Sultan Sanjar said.
"Terrorists detonated an explosive device in the market of Andkhoi district around 11.30 a.m. (local time), killing five civilians and injuring 25 others," Xinhua news agency quoted Sanjar as saying.
The official blamed the enemies of peace, a reference to the Taliban militants, for the deadly bombing.
Taliban militants, who are active in parts of Faryab province and captured Ghormach district of the province early Sunday, are yet to comment on the attack.
