Five civilians were killed and three others were injured when a roadside bomb blew up a vehicle in Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar on Tuesday, police said

"A mine planted by terrorists on a road in Arghistan district struck a vehicle at around 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) killing five people, all civilians, on the spot and injuring three others, including a mother and her child," Zia Durani, a provincial police spokesman, told Xinhua news agency.

Taliban militants are largely responsible for suicide and roadside bombing.

Violence usually increases in spring and summer in Afghanistan, commonly known as fighting season among the war-weary Afghans.
