Five people were killed and three others injured on Thursday when a taxi plunged into a river along the Jammu-Srinagar highway, police said.
The accident occurred at Gangroo in Ramban district when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the 300-km highway and plunged into a deep gorge and then a river, police said.
The vehicle was on its way to Jammu from the Kashmir Valley. While one person died at the spot, four others succumbed to their injuries later, a police officer told IANS.
