Five men posing as tax officers posted in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were arrested for loot, police said Tuesday.

Pankaj alias Rana, Jitender Kumar and Afzal were arrested from different areas of Delhi.

Monu alias Fauji from Meerut and Dinesh alias DK from Baghpat, who lived in Gurgaon, were arrested for looting tractors from Gurgaon, Delhi and Noida.

DK is 19 years old while the other four accused are 22-28 years old.

"A white Maruti Swift Dzire car with blue beacon light and 'Government Of India' written on it, also having sticker of 'Tax Department' pasted on the wind screen, was being used in the crime," Joint Police Commissioner Vivek Sharma said.

The car belonged to Pankaj and was attached with a senior tax officer posted in Delhi's Jhandewalan area. Rana was the driver of the officer.

Jitender worked as a clerk at a private institution in Delhi.

"They used to target tractors only because they were easy targets and easier to sell off. They used to sell looted tractors in Uttar Pradesh's Hasanpur. We are grilling them on police remand," the officer said.

They were arrested late Monday night from Jharsa Road area here.
