Online marketplace Flipkart on Tuesday launched "Ping", a mobile application feature that will help in enhancing the shopping experience of users.
Using Ping, Flipkart users would be able to chat with friends while shopping, and share experiences using text, photos and emoticons in real time.
The company has 50 million app-based users, which comprise 75 percent of its total users.
"Ping aims to transform online shopping by allowing users to talk to each other in real time in order to decide on what to buy," Flipkart's chief product officer Punit Soni said.
He said that to make the app more interactive the company is also planning to include sellers in the chat. "Conversation with sellers and making it interactive is all there in the roadmap."
Soni said the company is "absolutely concentrating" on mobile users and app-only is the way forward but there is no deadline for shutting down of other formats.
This new feature in the application will be available in Android and iOS platforms only.
