In a bid to decongest traffic on the Mohan Nagar stretch in Ghaziabad district, two flyovers will be built on both sides of the metro rail track, an official said on Thursday.

"The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has done its home work. Let it be cleared by DMRC and CRRI," said GDA vice chairman V.K. Yadav.

"Being a strategic place where smooth traffic movement is needed in view of defence installation of Hindon Air Force station and having connectivity from all sides, GDA plans to construct two flyovers on both sides of the metro track," Yadav said.

The Mohan Nagar stretch is usually congested as several roads merge there.

The flyovers would be constructed on GT road so that direct traffic from Shahdara in east Delhi could move smoothly towards Ghaziabad, the official said.

The traffic from Noida and Mayur Vihar via UP gate to Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh would pass under these flyovers without any hassle, the official added.
