It was a day of great chill and dense fog in the capital Tuesday, and caused 96 trains to and from the city to run behind tehir schedules. The weather office said there would be no respite from the cold Wednesday.
"There will be dense fog Wednesday morning, but the day will be clear. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 20 and 6 degrees Celsius," said an official of the India Meteorological Department here.
Tuesday's minimum temperature was 4.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average, while the maximum was recorded at 20 degrees Celsius, one notch below the average.
According to Northern Railway, 96 trains were running late due to fog, while 47 were rescheduled and nine were cancelled.
Monday's maximum temperature was 21.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, while the minimum was 4.8 degrees, three notches below average.
