For third day, Haryana, Punjab get relief from heat wave

Heat wave conditions continued to abate in Haryana and Punjab for the third day on Thursday with maximum temperatures at most places remaining below 37 degrees Celsius.

People felt the much-needed relief from the heat wave that has gripped the region till Monday when maximum temperatures were between 42 and 46 degrees.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 36.4 degrees while Hisar in Haryana, which recorded 45.5 degrees on Monday, recorded 36.2 degrees, while Ambala and Karnal towns had highs of 33.8 and 34 degrees respectively.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees, followed by Ludhiana and Patiala at 34.7 and 34 degrees respectively.

 

Dusty and overcast conditions had brought relief to most places on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Met officials predicted light rain and thunderstorms in some parts of the region in the next 48 hours.
