Uruguay international striker Diego Forlan has joined Japanese club Cerezo Osaka for an undisclosed fee from Brazil's Internacional.
The 34-year-old ended weeks of speculation about his future by confirming the move via Twitter Wednesday, reports Xinhua.
"I have just signed with Cerezo Osaka until 2014," Forlan said.
Winner of the Golden Ball award for the best player at the 2010 World Cup, Forlan scored 22 goals in 55 appearances for Internacional after his 2012 move from Inter Milan.
In a statement on their official website, Internacional thanked Forlan for his contribution.
"We appreciate his professionalism and wish him best of luck for the rest of his career," the statement said.
