A former BSP minister in Uttar Pradesh has been sent to jail after his wife accused him of having unnatural sex with her and harassing her family for dowry, police said Friday.
A case was filed against Choudhary Basheer, a candidate for the Lok Sabha from Firozabad, two days ago by his third wife Nagma.
Nagma alleged that Basheer had subjected her to unnatural sex during pregnancy and harassed her family members for dowry.
The former minister was sent to the district jail by a court Thursday after he spent a night at the Hari Parbat police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Subhash Chandra Dubey heard Nagma and got her medically examined two days ago.
Nagma said her husband had been torturing her for dowry since their marriage in November 2012. She also accused him of having an affair with another woman.

When she protested, Basheer thrashed her, she told police. "Due to frequent unnatural sexual acts, her private parts got bruised," she added.
Basheer earlier married a Kanpur legislator, Gazala, and later defected from the Samajwadi Party to the BSP.
