A relative of a former legislator on Wednesday snatched the service rifle of the personal security guard (PSO) deployed with the MLC in Shopian district of south Kashmir.

"Waseem Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohammad Ayoub resident of Zakhan Keller village, has snatched an AK-47 rifle along with 30 rounds from the PSO of a former MLC (member of legislative council)," a police official said on Wednesday.

"Waseem is a relative of former MLC Abdul Rehman Tukroo."
