Slovakia's former politician and actor Milan Knazko shot a robber who tried to rob his villa here on Wednesday.
"That's correct, a burglar was there," Knazko was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.
He, however, refused to provide any further details about the incident, as a police investigation was still pending.
The Slovak news website Cas.sk reported earlier in the day that Knazko mounted resistance to the burglar and shot him with a handgun.
Jozef Minar, of the Slovak Emergency Health Service Operational Centre, said that paramedics were despatched to Havlickova Street in Bratislava at 1.34 a.m. (local time) at the request of police.
"The police informed us that it apprehended the perpetrator with a gunshot wound in his lower extremity. We treated the 49-year-old man and transported him to hospital," added Minar.
