Former Spain midfielder Jose Maria Maguregui died Monday at the age of 79 after a long illness.
Magueregui played for Athletic Bilbao from 1952 to 1961, helping them win one league and three cups. He was capped seven times by Spain between 1955 and 1957, then wound down his career at Sevilla, Espanyol and Recreativo Huelva, reports Xinhua.
Maguregui went on to coach Racing Santander, Celta Vigo, Almeria, Espanyol, Atletico Madrid and Murcia between 1972 and 1991.
