Four firearm peddlers have been arrested and a cache of 35 semi-automated pistols seized from their possession in two different operations here, police said Friday.
According to police, all of them were trying to smuggle the illegal firearms in the national capital for gangsters and criminals.
In the first operation Dec 14, one person was arrested from the east Delhi's Commonwealth Village area where he had come to deliver a consignment of illegal firearms to a client. A total of 25 illegal firearms were recovered from his possession.
During investigation, he revealed that the firearms were procured from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh and he used to deliver them after receiving orders from clients.
In the second operation Dec 24, three people were arrested from a bus terminal at Sarai Kale Khan in south Delhi. Ishtyaq, 25 had gone to deliver a consignment of firearms to Salimuddin, 21 and Bhila Singh, 42 when all three were caught.
Ten pistols were recovered from their possession.
"Further interrogation of the accused is underway to unearth the entire module and to identify other manufacturers, suppliers and peddlers of these high quality illicit firearms," a police officer said.
