Four held for filing false murder case for extorting money

The Ghaziabad Police on Thursday said four persons have been arrested on the charge of hatching a conspiracy to implicate five named and two unidentified persons in a false murder case due to old enmity to extort money from them.

The arrested accused are Avneesh Kumar, Sanjiv Kumar, Neeraj and Rajesh Kumar. They have since been sent in judicial custody by a district court.

Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna told the media here that on May 23, Rajiv Kumar of Nandgram shot himself fatally with a countrymade pistol in Kanastar Wali Gali in Hindon Vihar after his illicit relations with his maid were revealed.

 

"His wife Anju and relatives Avneesh, Sanjiv, and Rajesh hatched a conspiracy and lodged a complaint at the Sihani Gate police station that Shivani, Sunny, Rajesh, Sanjiv Dubey, Pushpa and two unidentified persons had killed Rajiv. On their complaint, a criminal case under Sections 147 and 302 of the India Penal Code was registered.

Investigation Officer Rajendra Singh found during the probe that the complainants had misled the police under a plan to extort money from the accused by putting them under fear of conviction and life imprisonment in the fake murder case.

The police officer recovered the countrymade pistol, the suicide weapon, along with a spent cartridge from Hindon Vihar area and registered a criminal case under Sections 193, 195 and 388 of the IPC on May 30 against the arrested persons.
