Four people, including three Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, were injured after being attacked by a leopard which entered the headquarters of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NRF) here on Friday morning, an official said.

Later, personnel from the Assam forest department managed to tranquilise the big cat and remove it to the Assam State Zoo.

"The incident took place in the morning hours when a leopard sneaked into the NFR headquarters at Maligaon. The leopard entered in one of the control rooms at the NFR headquarters. Soon it created a panic with people running from one place to another to save themselves," said a NF Railway spokesman.

"However, one of the employees could manage to lock the leopard from outside when it entered a empty room inside the headquarters," he said adding that later, forest department officials tranquilized it through the window.

The whole incident, however, halted the entire activity of the busy NF Railway headquarters here for more than three hours.

The leopard is believed to have come from the neighbouring Adinggiri Hills or from the Nilachal Hills located close by.
