Inspired by the Bollywood movie franchise "Dhoom", a gang of four juveniles started robbing people but ran out of luck Friday when they landed in the police net.
They were arrested near the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the Munirka area of south Delhi following a tip-off.
"The mastermind of the gang was earlier involved in a case of vehicle theft and remained in juvenile welfare home for about 45 days," said Additional Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav.
In the juvenile home, he learnt from other inmates that police could not arrest juveniles. He was also told juveniles cannot be treated like other criminals for the same offence and cannot also be detained in jails.
Yadav said after coming out of the observation home, he formed a gang of juveniles named "Ali Baba" and started stealing motorcycles and cars with the help of master keys.
"He used to target people in lonely places during late night hours and robbed them at knife point," said Yadav.

According to the officer, they were inspired by the "Dhoom" franchise and tried to imitate the style of the films' thieves while committing robberies on bikes.
"All of them wanted to have fun and enjoy a lavish lifestyle," he added.
