A train accident in Bangladesh Thursday killed four people and injured at least 25 others, media reported.

The accident occurred in Bangladesh's Joypurhat and the victims died on the spot after falling off the roof of a freight train, according to a bdnews24.com report.

Joypurhat railway station master Nurul Islam said that some poor people were travelling to Parbatipur in Dinajpur district on the train's roof.

The driver abruptly slowed the train after crossing the Joypurhat station as several of its compartments had been detached by miscreants.

The deceased have not been identified yet, according to the report.

Those injured in the accident have been admitted to the Joypurhat Sadar Hospital.

It is still not certain why or how the railway officials allowed the men to travel on the train's roof.
