At least three Yemeni soldiers and one civilian were killed on Tuesday with two more soldiers wounded when a bomb exploded in the southeastern Yemeni province of Hadramaut, according to a statement issued by the country's defence ministry.

The military victims belonged to Infantry Brigade 135 of the Yemeni army, Efe news agency cited the statement as saying, adding that the device exploded when the soldiers' vehicle was moving in Wadi al-Einen, in the al-Qatn district, 900 km southeast of capital Sanaa.

No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, although the Al Qaeda has carried out similar assaults against police and army forces in Hadramaut and other areas in the south of Yemen.

The Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) is highly active and considered by the US as the most dangerous branch of the larger terrorist organisation.

As a result, Washington has been launching drone attacks against jihadi positions in the country, most recently on Monday when at least two suspected AQAP militants were killed and three others were wounded in the Shabwa province, 570 km southeast of Sanaa.
