The government on Tuesday awarded the contract for four-laning of the Lucknow-Sultanpur section of National Highway-56 in Uttar Pradesh, worth Rs 2,845 crore.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued the "Letter of Award" (LOA) for development of the Lucknow-Sultanpur section of NH-56 in Uttar Pradesh under the National Highways Development Project phase-IV.
"The project shall be executed on hybrid annuity mode and completed in 30 months from the date of commencement of the project," the ministry said in a statement.
"Development of this section would reduce the travel time from Lucknow to the holy city of Varanasi and promote tourism in the region," it added.
