Schalke have reinforced their midfield with the signing of Omar Mascarell from fellow German football club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Mascarell agreed on a deal until June 2022, Schalke said on Thursday. The 25-year-old will boost Schalke following the departures of Leon Goretzka and Max Meyer, reports Xinhua news agency.
"We are glad that Omar Mascarell has opted for us. He is a player who will help us and who has already proven his qualities in the Bundesliga. I look forward to working with him," Schalke head coach Domenico Tedesco said.
Mascarell joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2017 and made overall 37 appearances to provide one goal.
"It is an incredible feeling to be able to play for this big club in the future. I am very ambitious and I always want to win," the former Under-20 Spanish international said.
Mascarell is after Mark Uth, Salif Sane, Suat Serdar and Steven Skrybski the fifth summer signing for Schalke, who completed the 2017-2018 Bundesliga season on the second place to secure a berth in next season's UEFA Champions League group stage.
