English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester United are set to bring French striker Anthony Martial to Old Trafford for 36 million pounds.

The 19-year-old has been plying his trade with Ligue 1 club Monaco and on Monday was allowed to leave the France squad and travel to Manchester for a medical with the Red Devils, reports bbc.com.

"Anthony Martial asked France coach Didier Deschamps for permission to travel to England to sign a contract with Manchester United," a statement from the French Football Federation has confirmed.

"He'll return on Tuesday morning."

The talented forward netted eight goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Should he sign, Martial will become Manchester United's third most expensive signing after Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria.

Martial joined Monaco in June 2013 and this summer he agreed to sign a one-year extension to his previous contract at the club which will now end after 2019.

After he signed the new deal, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said Martial was "untransferable".
