French Junior Minister for Veterans Kader Arif Friday resigned over a corruption probe, president's office said.

President's office in a statement said that Arif presented his resignation to President Francois Hollande in order to "answer all the questions aimed at establishing the truth in the preliminary inquiry led by the French financial prosecutor in which his name has been cited", Xinhua reported

Senator Jean-Marc Todeschini was named as Arif's replacement.

The investigations focus on the outgoing minister's role in showing favour to procurement contracts of two companies owned by his brother and nephews.

Arif is the third minister of the Socialist Party government to resign over suspected financial wrongdoings. Budget minister Jerome Cahuzac was forced to step down from the executive staff in March 2013, and trade minister Thomas Thevenoud left office about two months ago.
