Paris, Aug 14 (IANS/MAP) French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday condemned the terror attack in Burkina Faso's capital, saying his country will remain committed to support the fight against terror.
At least 17 people were killed and eight injured on Sunday night in a terrorist attack by armed men on a cafe-restaurant in Ouagadougou.
In a statement released by Elysee Palace, Macron expressed his compassion and solidarity for the victims' families. The Foreign Ministry said a French national was among those killed in the attack by suspected Islamic extremists on the upscale Turkish restaurant.
The Ministry statement gave no details about the French victim but said the country's officials were in contact with the victim's family "to help it in these painful moments".
Macron will hold talks with his Burkina Faso counterpart, Roch Marc Christian Kabore, to assess the situation.
