A 21 MW solar park, set up by French solar power major Solairedirect, was inaugurated in Fazilka Friday in the presence of French Minister Segolene Royal and Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
The solar park, spread across 40 hectares, has a capacity of 21 MW and will generate 39 GWh per annum, or the consumption equivalent of 44,000 residents, said a press release.
Segolene Royal, French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, is in India for the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.
This ministerial inauguration is also symbolic of the French and Indian efforts made in respect of the upcoming Climate Change Conference - COP21 2015 - to be held in Paris, with the main objective of achieving a new agreement on climate, said the release.
