A 34-year-old teacher in France was stabbed to death Friday by one of her students' mother while all pupils were present in the classroom, police said.
The incident took place at the Edouard Herriot primary school in Albi, southern France, in the morning, BBC reported. Police said the suspect was immediately detained.
French President Francois Hollande, who sent education minister to the school to lead the government's response, in a statement said: "All state services will be mobilised to take care of these children and the staff who witnessed this awful tragedy."
The pupils who witnessed the attack, reported to be between five and six years old, are being counselled.
The incident occurred at a time of growing concern in France over assaults by parents on teachers.
